North India's Biggest BIRD SCANTURY

Kusheshwar Asthan is a famous religious place, situated about 51 km from District headquarter of Darbhanga (BIHAR). A very ancient temple of Lord Shiva (which is known as Kusheshwar Baba) is present here. This place is famous for its festivals like Shivratri, Durga Puja, Chhath etc. which are celebrated with great enthusiasm.

The water logged fourteen villages of Kuseshwarasthan block covering an area of 7019 acres and 75 decimals, due to their greater ecological, faunal, floral, geomorphological and natural importance has already been declared as Kuseshwarasthan Bird Sanctuary under Wild Life Protection Act 1972 (as amended upto 1991). Some famous migratory birds which comes here are:-Dalmatian pelican (Pelicanus erisups), Bar-headed goose, White winged wood duck (Cairiva scutulata), Siberian Crane (Grus leuogranus), Indian Skimmer (Rynchops albicollis) etc.
Native Countries of Migratory Birds :Nepal, Tibet, Bhutan, Afghanistan, China, Pakistan, Mongolia & Siberia and others.

It is considered as the biggest bird scantury of North India and must visited place for all bird lovers and ecologists.
Boats are offered at a nominal cost to visit the water logged area and bird seeing.

Kusheshwar Asthan is well connected by Railway & Road from Darbhanga and Patna. Darbhanga and Hasanpur (Samastipur) are nearest railway station. All seasons (except rainy) are right time to visit Kusheshwar Asthan.
